Director (Founder of Charms of Indochina Travel)

I used to be an English teacher for just few years after graduating from the English Department, HCMC Pedagogical University. Then I found the job was not suitable for me as I was still young at that time and soon getting bored. I wanted to try something new and finally the time had come…In 1994, when tourism in Vietnam was at its infancy, I joined the industry and acted as a tour guide for a well-known travel agent. I immediately fell in love with tourism as I know from the bottom of my heart, I love to show people my beloved motherland, Vietnam. I had the privilege of taking many groups of Western tourists to Lao and Cambodia. For more than 10 years working as a tour guide, I learnt a lot and was confident enough to start my own business which I had always dreamed of. Finally in 2004, my precious child – Charms of Indochina Travel, was born.

The mission of the company is to give our clients the best travel experience in the most professional way. It was difficult in the early days since we were new in the market and nobody knew about us. However, with my passion for tourism, me and my staff-as I prefer to call them my team, encouraged each other and together we overcame the crisis. We persisted after numerous failures and kept the business operating all the same. Thanks to the client’s trusts and thanks to our excellent team members for keeping our standard at its highest level. Today, Charms of Indochina Travel is recognized as a prestigious Inbound Travel agent in Vietnam.

My family and I are now based at Auckland and we operate Charms of Indochina and New Zealand – Australia Tours & Travel Limited  from our office at Birkenhead, North Shore. Again, we want to provide Kiwis with the same memorable experience that my past clients have for the last 23 years. More importantly, you get to enjoy your travel at the most competitive prices. We can customize our packages to suit your requirement and cater for both individual and groups. We can also conduct the tours for any length of time, from one day up to three months.

Hi, I’m Linh Phuong and I maybe the one who have been working for Charms of Indochina longest after Mr. Long (Director). Actually, tourism was not my major originally but English teacher was what I supposed to…since I graduated from HCMC Pedagogical University. However, at that time, I didn’t have a clue on what I really love and need. Therefore, I tried many positions in many places from HCMC Post Office to Receptionist at many restaurants and hotels… But still couldn’t find the passion. When I was very confused about my future, magic came out and destiny led me to the new way – to TOURISM. I started working as an English speaking tour guide and then a Japanese speaking tour guide, then a professional tour guide as they called me, for approximately 10 years. The passion for tourism of me has not ever died, in hope of serving my all to the industry, I entered Charms of Indochina Travel and have been working as Operation Manager and my experiences collecting during tour guiding time certainly assist me a lot. Besides, I’m happy with the working environment hereat COI Travel where we get along pretty well between all departments and we’re proud of our teamwork, which is one of the major reasons I have been colaborating with COI for so long.

Cary has been instrumental in helping to setup and promote both Charms of Indochina and New Zealand – Australia Tours & Travel Limited. Being a kiwi he understands the local needs and what travel experience people are looking for. He had also spent a considerable amount of time at South East Asia and has an understanding of the custom and culture.

Hi, my name’s Quynh. I graduated from HCMC University of Social Sciences and Humanities with Bachelor Degree in International Relations. At first, I chose the major since I really loved communicating with people, especially with foreigners who are from many different cultures to know more about the world. With the degree that I obtained from college, I was expected to work in a Forreign Affairs Department of a governmental organization or a foreign company but I ended up working in tourism industry after an intensive Tour Sales & Operation training course and happy for being a part of it so far … I have learnt a lot and also enjoyed a lot when working as Sale Executive for Charms of Indochina Travel where the team gets along very well, all for the aim of bringing the best service and best travel experience to our clients within their budget.  The feeling of tailoring a trip for esteemed customers, exchanging information with them and receive good feedback and thanks from them has inspired me a lot and I love that feeling so much. In the near future, I’ll try my best together with Charms of Indochina team to bring more and more unforgetable trips to our clients …

Hi, my name’s Linh Thanh, I studied Tourism at Hong Bang International University and have been working for Charms of Indochina Travel for more than 2 years. With the love for tourism, I have never felt tired of my job and my daily duties although sometimes there’re heaps of tasks to do when it comes to high season. Thanks to Charms of Indochina, I have grown everyday in thoughts and knowledge, it’s also pretty helpful when I’m now knowing more and more about hotels and restaurants in many parts of Vietnam and having good relations with them, which is helpful for my working and enables us to offer competitive price comparing to other travel agencies.
