Hanoi opens more information kiosks to serve foreign tourists

Mr. Trinh Xuan Tung, a senior official from the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism says that after more than two months in operation, the Tourist Support Center has received a lot of feedback and complaints by tourists about the problems they encountered in the major tourist sites in the city.

“The center has collaborated with a number of relevant authorities to resolve dozens of complaints of tourists, mainly relating to taxis, street vendors, overcharging, missing luggage and tours of low quality,” Tung says.

The official says that recently some tourists reported taxi overcharging cases in Hanoi and these cases were handled immediately to protect tourists.

“In some cases tourists called to the center but they did not provide sufficient information, making it difficult for the center staff in handling of the case,” Tung adds.

He says that the Department will work closely with the authorities in a number of key areas for tourism to resolve complaints of tourists quickly.

Mr. Mai Tien Dung, deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Culture , Sports and Tourism, says that hot lines will be set up at most of the tourist sites in Hanoi to receive information from visitors. This phone number will be posted in restaurants, hotels and tourist places.

In addition, the information counters at Noi Bai International Airport and the information kiosk in Hanoi will also receive feedbacks and complaints of tourists. Some information desk will be open at the other tourist areas.

In HCM City, cameras will be installed at tourist sites to ensure safety for tourists, says Mr. Nguyen Thanh Rum, Director of HCM City Tourism Department.
