Vietnam Top Attractions
Vietnam is one of world’s natural wonders and is one of the top tourist attractions in Vietnam. The literal meaning of “Halong” is “Bay of Descending Dragons”. A local legend says that a family of dragons was sent to defend the land long ago when the Vietnamese were fighting the Chinese invaders. These dragons had descended upon what is now Halong Bay.
The Vietnamese government takes a carrot and stick approach to family planning. For couples who limit their family size to two children or less, there are promises of benefits in education, housing, health care and employment (though a lack or funding means these promises ore often not kept).
Vietnam is one of the poorest countries in Asia with an estimated per capita income of less than US$300 per year, and hard currency debts of US$1.4 billion (owed mainly to Russia, the IMF and Japan). Unable to repay these loans, Vietnam has been unofficially bankrupt since the 1980s.

There are no good or bad seasons for visiting Vietnam. When one region is wet, cold or steamy hot, there is always somewhere else that is sunny and pleasantly warm.
